Re: Windlass not taking load on my ship, ideas to fix it
Yea cast ally, already open some plugs to inspect but nothing is visible, more observations on the filters... If some more of such, then motor will be dismantled for inspection. But I can't figure out what exactly has such metal... Definitely not gears. Maybe leftover during overhauling I guess..

Re: Windlass not taking load on my ship, ideas to fix it
@Merlyn I won't by any chance guess the valve had any problems... Same valve was renewed at dry dock resently during overhauling of the windlass... Actually we are still diagnosing where the metal came from.... Filters checked nothing was found.

Re: Assessment of Indian COC
I am not from India, but it's recommended to visit Indian DG shipping for proper guidance. Then contact them if they are working. I believe the Covid-19 closed all offices.

Re: Windlass not taking load on my ship, ideas to fix it
Thanks to all of you.. after proper troubleshooting, I found a piece of metal on the motor relief valve .. which kept the valve wide open... Bypassing oil from from winch motor to the return line. That was removed, pressure adjusted as required and now working perfectly.

Is Pipe tunnel an enclosed space?
During safety meeting onboard ship, chief mate said pipe tunnel is not an enclosed space as it has exist from forward and aft. But to my understanding, I disagree with such, because may contain toxic gas, since bunker tank, ballast tanks and valves are all in connection. Provision of ventilation as ...

Re: Covid19, Flight Restrictions, Airport Closures and Crew Change
Presently we could only change crews at Indian port. It's a difficult time not just with seafarers also with a shore based employees. But hopefully soon all will be over.

Re: Diesel Generator low frequency on high load.
Probably you might have gotten a solution to the problem... But in case not, I suggest you to re-check your injectors.. non original fuel valves might malfunction when give more load. To understand the situation, monitor the exhaust outlet while increasing the load, it might give black smoke before ...
