Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello Sanmarino. In our case the piece we found in the V5 valve didn't belong to the valve itself but probably came from an o-ring of the bowl. This happened either because bowl was not cleaned properly or during assembly some o-ring didn't "sit" well and got cut so the piece led down to t...

Re: Alfa Laval S separator issue
Check if SV10 valve is opening properly. Maybe the coil is burned or the piston is stuck thus no displacement water is entering the bowl.

Re: Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Sorry for the late reply. Found it about 10 days ago. It was the V5 water drain valve! Apparently during the leakage test this valve (among other things i.e. bowl, V4) should be 100% closed and of course not leaking. If it leaks then the pressure decreases and the system gives an "Oil leaking f...

Alfa Laval S846 HFO Separator problem
Hello dear colleagues, we are dealing with a rather "crazy" problem with our HFO S846 separator in our power plant. More specifically, upon discharge and while on timer 66 (Leakage test) it gives an "OIL LEAKING FROM BOWL" alarm and stops. Now the "crazy" part is that t...

Re: Chinese GDF G32 Diesel Engine series
Hi JollyJack and thanks for the reply.
I understand what you mean.
The other engine types we're looking at are:
1. CATERPILLAR 8CM 32E and
2. WARTSILA 9L 34.
I imagine the caterpillar engine is a MAK/Cat hybrid.
What do you think?

Chinese GDF G32 Diesel Engine series
Goodmorning fellows. I was wondering if any of you have experience regarding the chinese G.D.F. G32 diesel engine series. I'm searching for feedback regarding reliability, spare parts, SFOC, common failures-flaws, especially any info concerning the 9G32 engine. Unfortunately there are not many data ...

Re: Injection pump sticking problem in Wartsila 32 engines
Hello everybody and sorry for the late reply. Fisrt of all thank you for your answers. Now to the point: Both engines are equipped with automatic viscosity controllers which maintain the fuel viscosity at the desired setpoint (16 cst according to Wartsila's instructions) by controlling a steam valve...

Injection pump sticking problem in Wartsila 32 engines
Hello. We are a power plant in Greece operating 2 Wartsila 32 12V engines using HFO 380 as the primary fuel. Ever since we turned to HFO 380 (from MDO) we are facing a very serious injection pump fuel rack stickiness problem. This problem happens randomly at a wide rang of loads but happens more fre...
